Project Overview
The State Control Centre located at Level 4, 8 Nicholson Street is undergoing a second stage of refurbishment improvements to accentuate and compliment the works completed at Stage 1 and address additional requirements post Stage 1 implementation including relocating Logistics and Resources to a larger and purpose built space, additional agency offices for MFB and VICPOL, addition of Relief and Recovery office and minor improvements to change rooms and SCC kitchen. Construction for the project is scheduled to be completed from Friday 23 August 2013 until 30 September 2013 with a go live date of Tuesday 1 October 2013.
Project Background
The first stage of the refurbishment of the State Control Centre (SCC) occurred in late 2012 with the project implementing the recommendations from numerous investigations and reports post Black Saturday. The core objectives of the project included improving communications flow, accommodating additional functions, improving the presentation of information, improving ergonomics, consolidating support functions, improving security, addressing disaster proof issues, adequately resourcing agencies, rebranding the centre and separating the FSC team from the SCC. At conclusion of the project these objectives were deemed met and positive feedback was received. The second stage of the project, initially scheduled for early 2013 was delayed to allow capture of feedback from the End of Season Review and Survey. This valuable feedback in conjunction with initial Stage 2 requirements have been combined to formulate the plan for this project encompassing expansion of the audio visual system and video conferencing facilities; relocation and expansion of the Logistics and Resources function area, expand Strategic Risk area, additional accommodations for MFB and VICPOL, improvement of employee sign in flow, accommodation for Relief and Recovery, improvements to the kitchens, change rooms and FSC SCC area.
Expand Logistics and Resources to cater for operational requirements during all types of activations as well as improve visual flow of information from the main room;
Accommodate the requirements of MFB and VICPOL teams during activations; Accommodate the Relief and Recovery team; Expand Strategic Risk workstation area
