Level 1-2 Incorrect 1. Simplify: c) (3)2 (-5)2 = 9-25=31 Correct 1. Simplify: c) (3)2 (-5)2 = 9-25=14 Reflection: On the question I firstly did 3 to the power of 2, which is 3x3 and got 9. I did this by following PEMDAS. I then did -5 to the power of 2, which is -5 x -5 and got +25 because - x - = +. Following PEMDAS I then subtracted 9 by 25 and got 14. On the test I got it wrong because instead of subtracting it I added to witch I got 31. Incorrect 2. Simplify the following operations: d) 36 x 0.6 = 2.16 Correct 2. Simplify the following operations: d) 36 x 0.6 = 21.6 Reflection With the question 36 x 0.6 I made a little mistake when finishing my multiplication. During the test I thought of the simplest way that I could do the equation and that was what confused me at the end. I went and added 0.6 36 times. Once I had done that I then remembered of the decimal point and I thought that I should move the decimal point two steps back. So thats what I did and that got me the 2.16. Another way that I remembered now that I could have done the equation is with simple multiplication. When multiplying 36 by 0.6 to get to the number 216. Then I remembered that 0.6 was a decimal and moved the decimal point one step forward.

Level 3-4 Incorrect a) The HCF/GCF of 36 and 48. Write in index notation. 36= 33 x 22 48= 24 x 3 3

Correct a) The HCF/GCF of 36 and 48. Write in index notation. 36= 33 x 22 48= 24 x 3 22 Reflection On finding the highest common factor/ greatest common factor is easy if you know how and what to do. The problem was that while doing the test my mind was spinning with questions making my concentration lower and my % of getting the answer correct dimmer. I did the tree method to find the HCM of both 36 and 48. Once I had that I then had to get the HCF, which got me final answer. I got mixed up because I immediately said 3 because it was the biggest common number there. I didnt realize the 4 the was shown as 2 to the power of 2. Another way that this could have been done is by not only the tree method but the Colom method that involves the same principle. Incorrect b) Calculate 1 x 5/8 1 x 5/8 = 3/2 x 5/8 = 12/8 x 5/8= 7 Correct A) Calculate 1 x 5/8 1 x 5/8= 3/2 x 5/8= 15/16 Reflection Multiplying fractions is simply to multiply the top by the top and the bottom by the bottom. I during the test had other ideas. I tried to find the same denominator (horrible mistake)

Incorrect c) Calculate 1 2/3 divided by 2/5 5/3 2/5= 3/5 2/5= 6/5 Correct a) Calculate 1 2/3 divided by 2/5 5/3 2/5= 3/5 2/5= 6/25 Reflection Dividing is very similar to multiplication. Basically all needed to do is to make all proper fractions into improper if necessary and flip the first fraction. After flipping the fraction you have to multiply the two fractions as if it were multiplying a normal fraction. The problem that I faced was I forgot how to multiply fractions in the since that its simple multiplication both top and both bottom. Level 5-6 Write an expression for: c) Incorrect M+N4 Correct

M+N3
Reflection Cubed to me was always 4 and it never came to me that I was wrong apparently, as I found out later that cubed was 3 I could under stand that I had gotten the question wrong. d) Incorrect (m+n)4 Correct

(m+n)3 Reflection The same thing happened again on this question. I forgot that cubed was 3 and because I thought that it was 4 I put 4. 5. b) Incorrect 43 2(-3) -2 x -3= 5 43= 64 + 5= 69 Correct 43 2(-3) 16-2= 14 14x -3= -42 Reflection First I had to transform the letters into numbers using the cods on the top next to number 5. Then I started the equation. I started by doing 43 = 16. Then I did 16 -2 that gave me 14. Then 14 x -3 because the -3 is in brackets, the final answer is -42. I got thing wrong on the test because I ignored the parentheses. c) Incorrect. 3(2x4+4x-2) 3(8+2) 3(10) 30 Correct 3(2x4+4x-2) 3(8+-8) 3

Reflection Kay Dieckmann Math test corrections.

When I was multiplying the numbers in the brackets to use PEMDAS. I could improve on this next time by remembering PEMDAS for every equation. Then I could not make this mistake again. Incorrect P+p3+2p+3P= P+2p=3p+3p=7p 6p+P3

Correct: P+p3+2p+3P= P+2p=3p+3p=6p 6p+P3 Reflection: I added p+2p+3p incorrectly giving me the incorrect answer. When doing the operation I firstly did p+2p+3p that gave me 6p. On the test I had written 7 p because of lack of concentration.
