Mourinho doing whats needed.

Despite signing Samuel Etoo the goals are not easy to come by for the Blues with only 3 goals scored in their previous 3 matches. 2 of these matches were away from home and only 1 point was achieved in these games with their draw at Tottenham. How did Chelsea lose to Everton? How did Tottenham not manage to hold their lead? Were Fulham ever going to cause a threat?

The statistics suggest Chelsea dominated the match, but the strikers were entirely unsuccessfulwith free scoring Lukaku being sent out on loan. What the strikers do in front of goal is highly influenced with the creation behind them. Frank Lampard and John Terry have been the structure and foundation to the Chelsea starting XI for several years now and the aging influence is starting to show. The current playmaker appears to be John Terry, with most passes going through him. Against Everton the ball was being processed through Chelseas defenders and it is unlikely any chances were going to be created through the defence. When the ball is in a forward position the likes of Hazard, Schurrle, Oscar and Mata (when used) are able to create plenty of opportunities with Ramires and Lampard (even Mikel) attacking from deep to finish lose chances. The key issue with Chelsea currently is the lack of clinical edge upfront.

Given Torres cup record, in terms of scoring goals, it seems that he only performs in one-off matches and away to Tottenham is definitely one of those games. His contribution all over the park was instrumental in Chelseas point against Spurs and created more chances in 90 minutes against Tottenham then he and Etoo combined over the past 180 minutes combined.

All these chances created didnt result in a goal and the following games saw a plethora of chances being created again with numerous shots with a low conversion rate (22 shots no goals against Everton), against Fulham 24 shots were taken but 2 goals were scored, finally at White Hart Lane 11 shots were taken with 1 goal scored (header however). Tottenham look incredibly strong this season and Chelsea were fortunate to come away with anything.
