Laboratory Test Parameters That Prevent CAD

Patient teaching needs to stress that the following blood levels are the goal for prevention of CAD: Total cholesterol/HDL-C ratio < 4 Total cholesterol < 200 mg/dL LDL-C < 100 mg/dL HDL-C > 40 mg/dL Triglycerides < 150 mg/dL Hs-C-reactive protein < 0.7 mg/dL = low risk Homocysteine 4 to 14.
