Ants live on large colonies. An ant colony has many ants. Each of them works.

In every ant colony, there are 3 types of ants. They are the queen, the males and the workers. The queen does not do anything except to reproduce. The males mate with the queen. The workers look for food and they take care of the eggs and the young ants. Termites also live in colonies. They are often called white ants, but they are not really ants. Like the ants, there are different types of termites: the queen, the king, the soldiers and the workers. The workers look for food and they take care of the eggs and the young termites. The soldiers protect the colony from the enemies. The queen termite is the largest with a big abdomen. It is the only termite that lays eggs in the colony. The big termites mate with the queen and live with her throughout his life.
