FACILITATOR PROCESSING QUESTIONS After trainees have discussed the questions about the learning points in the case

study, the facilitator must ask additional questions to meet the learning objectives. Trainees should have the opportunity to reflect on the case study and share their reactions with each other as a transition step to move from the case situation to recognising what they have learned. Facilitator processing questions are not shown to the trainees as part of the case study; rather they are given to the facilitator as part of a lesson plan with suggested answers. Here are several questions to facilitate discussing learning points: For trainees to SHARE and INTERPRET their reactions to the activity What happened when you tried to express your ideas and opinions? What surprised you about the points raised by others? How was that positive/negative? What struck you most about the major discussion points? How do these pieces fit together?

For trainees to IDENTIFY concepts form their reactions How does this discussion relate to other parts of the work you do? What might we conclude from that? What did you learn/relearn? What is important to remember about this discussion? What new information did you learn? Have you changed from your original position?

For Trainees to APPLY concepts to their situation How can you use the points made in this discussion most effectively? What is the value of this discussion to your job? What would be the consequence of doing/not doing this? What changes can you make to help it work for you? How does that fit with your experience?
