Green Party of Jordan - under-foundation

About us:
The Green Party of Jordan is an environmental party aiming to deploy human rights
concepts, democracy practices and green politics in the Jordanian society. Today
and more than ever before, Jordan needs urgent environmental policy, integrating
all segments of society in a national agenda with specific targets and milestones.
The name Green Party is used by political parties who work for sustainable and
democratic society. It is based on the principles of sustainability, social justice,
democracy, nonviolence, conservation of diversity and ecological wisdom. We
believe that these issues are inherently related to one another as a foundation for
world peace and world health. Therefore, such parties are normally part of the
Global Green Movement. Examples of Greens from the globe are, German Green
Party, Swedish environmental Party, European Green Party, Green Party of Egypt,
Lebanon Green Party and Green Party for Progress of Tunisia.
We believe that this was and is still one of the best ideas raised in Jordan and
therefore, we are willing to revive the Green Party of Jordan, which unfortunately
was dissolved in 2008 for no logical reasons after being active for 8 years.
Why Green Party of Jordan now?
We need the Green Party of Jordan at this moment for many ressons such as:
1 - Jordan suffers from environmental problems such as lack of water and the
spread of desertification and land erosion. Jordan needs to integrate the efforts of all
its institutions and individuals to mitigate environmental problems by providing
solutions and mechanisms and dissemination of awareness and knowledge to the
public.
2 - calls for the urgent need in Jordan to adopt a green policy towards
environmental issues and the role of the Green Party will be Jordan's assistant and
partner with all community organizations to provide programs and environmental
development in the adoption of guidelines and require that a green environmental
policy in Jordan.

3 - To promote a culture of environmental rights among the Jordanian citizens

starting from the preservation of the environment from inside the house.
Adopt the demand of the need for educational policy that contribute to the
dissemination of culture of human environment in the educational system.
4 - support of environmental issues, Arab and international.
5 - Activating the role of Jordanian youth in environmental conservation by involving
them in practical voluntarily programs.
6 - Promotion of programs, proposals and tools, such as software and media that
contribute to the reduction of environmental risks.
7 - adopt the demand of the need for legislation that promote sustainable
development and protects the environment.

Who are we?

We are community activists who are interested in environmental issues by seeking
the Green Party of Jordan who work for sustainable, peaceful, healthy and
democratic society.

Our role
A Partner to other institutions and a complement to the local community.

How we work?
Working through the adoption of public policy interest in environmental issues, work
through practical initiatives, by providing mechanisms and solutions, through the
dissemination of awareness and knowledge.
