Lenny found a nice filter. He decided to do with the water. He filled the bucket with the water and poured it down. The water came out from the hole aside the filter. Edward, Lenny and other children were amazed about the water which flowed along the ditch.
Edward and Lenny went to get more water from the well without any help. They waited for their turns to refill the bucket nicely.
When educators aside asked why the water flowed on this side not the other sides, they were inspired to think about this question and then some words were spoken out, flow down. Educator explained that because of the gravity, the water always flows down, such as waterfall. So Lenny said, lets dig to make the river deep and long. Edward and Lenny began to dig the river by using hands, but it was too slow. The other boy came and suggested to use the digger.
Edward took another round to pour the water down and to see how far it would flow. It flowed farer than before.
After being encouraged and promoted to make their own part of the river, he started to use his feet to dig and move the sand to both side to make the fork of the river.
What next?
Encourage and promote their thinking skills of measuring things where appropriate, which will be the next step. Question such as can you measure how long or far it is. Set up water play with a variety of materials. Provide some books about the natural environment like waterfalls, rivers and lakes to extend their learning of the natural environment.
