Report Content
Reviews all relevant informa0on on a given topic. Combines past research and relates it to what is happening now and into the future Educated opinions are provided along with quotes from other reports. Language is clear and concise but s0ll sophis0cated. Very liKle jargon is used and clearly explained when it is.

Informal Scien3c Study


Report addresses a ques0on or objec0ve. A lot of focus on the main ndings of the report. Results of report are extensive covering a variety of topics rela0ng to the objec0ve Intelligent but non-technical language used. Scien0c terms clearly explained. Results oOen expressed as a comparison rather than sta0ng specic numbers.

Monitoring Report
Highly detailed, scien0c layout. Wide range of visual representa0ons (graphs, raw data etc.). Yearly release is common for ongoing studies and/or progressive research and results. Highly technical wri0ng, formal, 1st person (technical) (spoken as the company), passive voice.

Technical Report
Report contains basic scien0c informa0on with detailed explana0ons. Extensive use of visual aids Basic conclusions presented and explained. Clear recommenda0ons provided with conclusions at the end. Formal wri0ng style but with very liKle scien0c jargon. Clear descrip0ve language.

Language

Emo3ve/ Objec3ve Structure

These reports can be wriKen in an engaging way. The author uses the review to communicate their opinions and recommenda0ons. A detailed Execu0ve summary outlines the major ndings. Contents page makes nding informa0on within the report easier Signicant number of headings and subheadings with each sec0on rela0ng to a specic theme. Recommenda0ons follow each sec0on Reference sec0on at the end of each sec0on Review report wriKen in a way that addresses the authors opinions. Language and structure allow anyone to nd and understand informa0on. Rela0vely non-emo0ve. Very objective, devoid of AKemp0ng to address the emotion "cut and dry", most ques0on of the report. likely for clarity. Some0mes the authors argument is pushed. Basic structure reects that of a scien0c report, with abstract, introduc0on, methodology. Results and discussion are combined in one sec0on. Many headings and subheadings along with a table of contents allow the reader to easily nd informa0on. High similarity to a lab report, with extra explana0ons akin to a business report (goals etc.). No glossary, but some explana0on presented inside paragraph of ques0on.

These reports are mostly objec0ve however some emo0ve language can be found when providing recommenda0ons.

Similar outline to scien0c report. Extensive execu0ve summary replaces abstract. Many headings and subheadings along with a table of contents allow the reader to easily nd informa0on. Many diagrams used A number of appendices provide supplemental informa0on

Figures used are clear, colourful and easy to understand.

Mul0ple lists used to indicate goals/guidelines throughout report. Graphs and gures provide sucient visual aid for interpreta0on of results and suppor0ng discussion.

These reports can be very long with a lot of informa0on on a number of related topics.
