Purpose: To provide procedure to operate Water Bath. Scope : The SOP is applicable for the operation of Water Bath Responsibility HOD Quality QC Chemist Definition: SOP: Standard Operating Procedure 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Procedure: Pour water in the water bath to the required level. The minimum requirement is 2cm above the heater. Place the thermometer clip in the hole provided in the lid. Connect the computer type plug of the mains cord to the socket in the round bath and three pin plug top to a suitably rated and earthed power source. Switch ON the on/ off toggle switch. Green color pilot lamp for power glow. Slowly turn the graduated thermostat knob clockwise from its extreme counter clockwise position, to the desired set point. The red color pilot lamp for heater glow. A few degrees before the set position, the heater start going ON/OFF. Please allow a few minutes to stabilize. If after stabilization, the temperature reached is less than the desired temperature, adjust the thermostat knob slightly by turning it clockwise or vice versa, till the desired temperature is attained. Please note that the graduations of the thermostat knob are indicative only. The actual desired temperature has to be attained by trial as per method outlined in 5 to 7.
