Scholastic News% &his week we read more abo't bats. We learned that bats 'se all five senses to hel( them s'rvive. &his was a $reat review for 's and we loved (layin$ a team $ame where we answered )'estions abo't bats. *aily +% ,'r $ro'(s are '( and r'nnin$. We have several $ro'(s that are workin$ thro'$h nonfiction te-t feat'res. .lease look for the te-t and the (a$es to come home so yo' can talk with yo'r child abo't the thin$s we are learnin$ abo't nonfiction te-ts. We have started to add /(ads into o'r daily ro'tine. We really en0oy havin$ this technolo$y in the classroom to hel( with readin$ and s(ellin$. We have had several lessons this week on ad0ectives. We started by describin$ the witch from the te-t 1oom on the 2room and moved to creatin$ ad0ectives to describe a ('m(kin. &he st'dents seem to be catchin$ on to what an ad0ective is and why we 'se them in o'r writin$ and how they make readin$ more e-citin$. We will start st'dyin$ no'ns ne-t week.

Writin$% &his week we have been learnin$ that we can write a story 'sin$ o'r fin$ers. We fo'nd that we can tell a story across o'r fin$ers to make s're we are tellin$ the first, then, ne-t and finally. We started o'r final first )'arter writin$ (iece on how to carve a ('m(kin. &his will come home with yo'r child"s re(ort card.

What we are #earnin$% Math% <nit two is done and we are startin$ <nit three. &his seems to be a bi$ review for most of 's. / think we will be workin$ a lot on the math talk for these (roblems. When yo' are workin$ with yo'r child ask them to tell yo' how they $ot their answer. We are tryin$ to move beyond / 0'st knew the answer. Science% &his week we finished learnin$ abo't bats and ended the week with a h'$e foc's on ('m(kins. We s(ent a day wei$hin$ them, meas'rin$ them and even cleanin$ them o't. We are movin$ into st'dyin$ owls after this.
