Immigration is always a troubling topic to discuss with other people. Some believe they dont belong here, but I believe otherwise. After all, foreigners did found the country, and the people who inhabit it today. Regardless of where people originate, they are still people and should be treated as such, not as aliens or outsiders, but as fellow human beings who have made it to see another day. I believe that as human beings, we should all have the freedom to live where we wish, and we shouldnt have to be worried about how others will react to our actions. Life is too short to worry about the affairs of anyone else. At the same time that I believe illegal immigrants do take up most of the jobs that legal residents should have, I also believe that those immigrants have a right to travel where they please, so long as they abide by all of the countries rules and regulations When most people hear the phrase illegal immigrant, they think of Mexicans. While they may be in that ridiculous category, an illegal immigrant is anyone from any country who has illegally moved into a country. Roberto Rodriguez states Why is all the hate and vilification directed at brown peoples and the southern boarder? Why are all of these politicians also not bothered by the millions of Canadians, Europeans, or Russians who overstay their visas? (1). How would America have even formed if it wasnt for those who moved into the Americas without permission from the people who originally lived there? Native Americans didnt agree

with the arrival of the Spanish and the English, and fighting against the foreigners resulted in the mass killing of their kind. The fighting wasnt necessary, and it isnt necessary today. In fact, according to Robert Creamer, there are many good reasons to predict that the odds are very good the GOP House Leadership will ultimately allow a vote on an immigration reform bill containing a pathway to citizenship this year. If such a bill is called, the odds are close to one hundred percent that it will pass (1). If the immigration reform bill is such a bad thing, then why do they predict that it will pass with a one-hundred percent vote from the people? Allowing people into the country is what made America such a diverse country. While it is true when Star Parker quotes that most gang violence in L.A. are latino related (1), I still believe that anyone who wants to move to America should be allowed to, if and only if they agree to follow by all the laws and regulations required from the everyday American citizen. There are many crimes that can be directly related to other race-associated gangs, like the Klu Klux Klan. Although that was a long time ago, gangs date back hundreds of years, with more than a hundred different associations (race, religion, beliefs). Illegal immigrants moving into the United States of America may result in the increase of people being on welfare, but the only way that could be seen as a direct result, is from a massive population increase. Even the increase of teen pregnancy in America could cause an increase on the amount of welfare recipients. The world is growing, and America is growing with it. When more people move into a country, the percentages of everything will increase, such as the increase of the upper, middle, and lower classes. Population increases may be good for the economy, because more people will need to be paid, and they will need to purchase more things, like houses and cars, which the proceeds will go directly back into the currently suffering

economy. Every beginning can be seen as rough, but in order to have a better future, we need to always look at things and how they will affect us in the long run. America is the land of the free, and it should be treated as such. People should be able to move in and out of America as they please. Allowing illegal immigrants into America helps create diversity. Think about it, if we never allowed the Chinese into our country, who would have helped us build the first rail road system? Who would have had helped us in our financial downfalls, and who would be able to provide us with delicious Lo-Mein at such an affordable price? As little as these things are, diversity is important to America. Although most people have racial stereotypes and inappropriate slang terms for classifying others around them, I still believe that is much better than living our lives with no acknowledgement of the great variety of people that are out there. We need to adjust how we treat others, and allowing immigration from all areas of the world into America, we can help smoothen rivalries, and help create worldwide bonds. In conclusion, I say we should all support the migration of those who wish to enjoy the land of the free. If America is the home of the brave, then why are we so scared of change? Why cant we except that others wish to have a life that is just as prosperous as ours? We never had to work hard to have what we have today, we simply had to born in the right country. I believe those who try to move to America have worked hard and have earned their right into the country. Everyone wants their piece of the American dream, so why can we have it, but they cant? I believe we should all open up our arms and our hearts to the possibility of change, and progression.
