CLASSIFYING QUADRILATERALS

CLASSIFYING QUADRILATERALS
A quadrilateral is a 2D shape with four straight sides. A diagonal is a line that joins two opposite corners of a quadrilateral. Every quadrilateral has two diagonals. The diagonals always cut (cross) each other.

A square has: All side the same length 2 pairs of parallel sides All angles are 90 Diagonals that bisect each other at 90 4 lines of symmetry Order 4 rotational symetry.

SQUARE

A rectangle has: 2 pairs of sides of equal length 2 pairs of parallel sides All angles are 90 Diagonals that bisect each other 2 lines of symmetry Order 2 rotational symmetry

RECTANGLE

A rhombus has: All sides has the same length 2 pairs of parallel sides Opposite angles equal Diagonals that bisect each other at 90 2 lines of symmetry Order 2 rotational symmetry

RHOMBUS

A kite has: 2 pairs of parallel sides No parallel lines 1 pair of equal angles 1 diagonal that bisects the other Diagonals that cross at 90 1 line of symmetry Order 1 rotational symmetry

KITE

A trapezium has: Sides of different length 1 pair of parallel sides Angles of different sizes No lines of symmetry Order 1 rotational symmetry.

TRAPEZIUM

An isosceles has: 2 sides the same length 1 pair of parallel sides 2 pairs of equal angles 1 line of symmetry Order 1 rotational symmetry

ISOSCELES

A parallelogram has: 2 pairs of equal length 2 pairs of parallel sides Opposite angles equal Diagonals that bisects each other No lines of symmetry Order 2 rotational lines

PARALLELOGRAM

A) All my sides are the same length . My diagonals bisects each other at 90. I have 4 lines of symmetry. What shape am I ? B) I have a pair of parallel sides. I have order 1 rotational symmetry. I also have one line of symmetry. What shape am I ?
