In excel, the R 2 represents the conformity of the linear equation. The value of R 2 is always in between 0 and 1. The closer this value is to 1, the more the points on the graph fall in a linear fashion. 2 Humboldt State University average percent increase over the past 8 years: Tuition: 5% Tuition and Fees: 5%

University of Colorado Boulder average percent increase over the past 8 years: Tuition: 9% Tuition and Fees: 8%

Tidewater Community College average percent increase over the past years: (4 years) Tuition: 8% (7 years) Tuition and Fees: 5%

I would think that the percent increase for CU Boulder is the highest because the institute has less students than the other schools and so the students that they do have are required to pay more to keep the school functioning. However, the evidence that I have fo und shows that Humboldt State University has a significantly lower population than UC Boulder which doesnt correlate to the percent increase. 3 Humboldt State University average percent increase for my college career: Tuition: 5% Tuition and Fees: 4%

University of Colorado Boulder average percent increase for my college career:

Tuition: 6% Tuition and Fees: 5%

Tidewater Community College average percent increase for my college career: 4 Tuition: -3% Tuition and Fees: 2%

Humboldt State Universitys la rgest increase was in between the years 2008-2010 when the percent increase was 14%. University of Colorado Boulders largest increase was in between the years 2006 -2008 when the percent increase was 18%. Tidewater Community Colleges largest increase was in between the years 2012 -2014 when the increase was 27%. Compared to the rest of the percent increases, these values are significantly higher. One thing that might have contributed to this increase for the Humboldt and UC Boulder might have been a drop in student population or an addition to the campus, like a remodeled building or a new program. For Tidewater, the increase might have been due to the lack of data for 2011-2013. I used two different websites to find the values and one of them gave me a large value for the current tuition which might have contributed to the drastic percent increase.

Humboldt State University total tuition and fees for four years: Tuition: $85,354.40 Tuition and Fees: $143,140.60

University of Colorado Boulder total tuition and fees for four years: Tuition: $53,101.52 Tuition and Fees: $135,016.40

Tuition Comparison between 4 years at Humboldt State University versus 2 years at Tidewater and transferring to HSU for junior and senior year. Humboldt State University Tidewater Community College+HSU Tuition: $85,354 Tuition: $59,324.47 Tuition and Fees: $143,140.60 Tuition and Fees: $95,197.74 Total Tuition: $143,140.60 Total Tuition: $95,197.74 If I attended a community college for two years and then transferred to a state university, I would save $47,942.86 than if I started at a four year university. The community college plus the university was about 33% of the cost of the four years at the university.

Overall, I will be saving more money if I attend UC Boulder than if I attend the community college for 2 years and then transfer junior and senior year. However, compared to HSU, I will be saving a considerable amount. If I paid my loans back on the Standard Fixed repayment plan for Tidewater+HSU, I would end up paying back a total of $167,731.56 plus the principle ($95,197.74) which would be $262,929.3. If I attended HSU for 4 years, my payback would be $252,203.42 plus the principle ($143,140.60) which would be $395,344.02. I would end up saving $132,414.72, which is a ton of money.

By looking at these colleges and the costs, it is apparent that the college that would be the least expensive is UC Boulder. I know this because at the end of it all, including loans, the total payback for UC Boulder is much less than Humboldt State University. I could have hypothesized this just because HSU is out of state and that generally equates to being more expensive. If I decided to attend UC Boulder, my principle for tuition and fees would be $135,016.40 as opposed to a principle of $143,140.60 for HSU. Additionally, if I paid all my student loans back on a standard fixed repayment plan, I would only pay $51,436.38 in interest but if I went to HSU and paid everything back on the same plan, I would end up paying $54,531.41. Overall, my total payback for UC Boulder ($237,889.16) plus the tuition for four years (135,016.40) which would result in a final price of $372,905.56. This is compared to the total price (total payback and tuition) for HSU which is $395,344.02. Overall, by attending UC Boulder I will be saving $22,438.46
