I, Cynthia Marie Lucky was born on November 8, 1959. I am the first of three daughters born in New London, Connecticut.

Growing up my family moved often; I have lived in Connecticut, Maine Montana, Missouri, and California. When I graduated from high school I had been to thirteen different schools across the United States. While in high school in Southern California I met my future husband, Matthew Jacobson. We dated for nine years and married on May 26, l984 in a quaint chapel at Chapman University in Orange, California. In August of 1985, we welcomed our first child, Kimberly and in August 1989, our son, Neil. We raised our two children in a private community called Canyon Lake in Southern California. Canyon Lake was our little utopia in the midst of a fast paced world and I loved the roots and community that it provided for our children; and our family. Kimberly and Neil both attended a small Catholic elementary school named St. James. It was there that our children received their educational foundation for their future careers and I received my inspiration to teach. Maybe it is because I had no roots or a sense of community during my childhood, but I thrived in the school environment as much as my children did. The faculty and staff were supportive and the readings at mass by, Father Tom touched my heart. I, too, grew up at St. James Catholic Elementary School, right beside my children. During my eleven years in the St. James community, I was a first and second grade aide, a driver for sports events, scorekeeper of basketball games, snack provider, art teacher, and a day to day and long term substitute teacher. All of these positions were roads leading me down my path to become a teacher. In 1995, I began classes at a local junior college and earned by Associates Degree. From there I

attended Cal State San Marcos and graduated in 2005 with my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies. After receiving my Bachelors Degree, I branched out and began substituting in the public school system. I navigated my way through the new school district and earned myself a good reputation and was working often. In June of 2007, our daughter got married and our son graduated from high school and was accepted at Cal State Chico. My husband and I had always planned to move to Lake County once our children were settled into their adult lives. In August of 2007, we moved to Upper Lake and began building our dream home on the hill. After the house was completed in 2008, I began substitute teaching in Lake and Mendocino Counties. I believe that I have developed a good reputation as a substitute teacher and work regularly in both counties. Through years of experiencing day to day and long term substituting, I began to realize that I had more to contribute to students as a full-time teacher. So I applied to Dominican University and was accepted into their credential program. I am currently embracing another chapter in my lifes journey and look forward to the privilege of teaching children in the classroom.
