Give a 1-2 sentence summary of each of your sources here: what type of source is it, and what is the main idea? Decker: This covers the salary of having a OB/GYN degree. It shows the salary, the comparisons with other similar PhD degrees and surveys on it. Evans: This source comes from a personal point of view. A person who personally went through school to earn their PhD. Talking about what they have and received from earning the degree. Rocca: This source lists very detailed benefits to earning a PhD. One being your education benefits and the others are a lot of positive reasons that you should obtain this degree.

Wetzel: This source covers the academic part of earning the PhD degree. It covers what outcome you will have as a career and professionally. Unknown: This source talks specifically on the salary and making of an OB/GYN. It shows the salary of a non-experienced OB/GYN up to an experienced OB/GYN.

What is your topic and what is its significance? ( For example:

Im going to write about the effects of the new race

track on the local job market for mechanical engineers because Im going to be in this career field in this community or Im going to compare the daily tasks of LPNs and RNs to show how educational level makes a difference in the nursing field. This is important to me because I want to get as much training as I can before I start working.)

I am going to write about how life is currently and how it will be after obtaining a PhD. I plan to write about this because I am going to become a doctor and I think it is important for me and others to know the benefits to this outcome.

Do you have a thesis statement yet? Try writing a possible working thesis herewrite a few different versions,
possibilities, to see how it works, and to give an idea of where youre headed with your ideas.

I currently do not have a thesis statement. If I did maybe it could be something including that earning a PhD degree is a life changer. Earning a PhD is a great accomplishment that boosts ones self -esteem about them however it also includes financial and educational benefits as well.

What organizational structure do you have in mind? Look at the templates on the Organizational Models handout and see if one of these will work for you (or a variation of one of these). Copy it here. Then, see if you can plug in some basic info (just a word or two, no full sentences needed) as far as what the causes/effects will be or the compare/contrast subjects/traits will be.
Intro: Thesis Cause: Graduating high school, graduating undergraduate school, graduating medical school, earning a PhD Effect having a tremendous amount of education Effect having a high self-esteem knowing you completed it all Effect having a good salary, not having to worry about money Synthesis Conclusion Restate thesis, expand all effects

Why are you choosing this structural model? What makes you feel that its the best set-up for your ideas, at this point? I am choosing this model because it fits best in my opinion! The way I looked at the other set-ups, they may have been able to work with it too but it seemed to flow more with this one. I wouldnt have to jump around or go back and forth. I would be able to state the cause and smoothly move from effect to effect. ReflectHow are you feeling about this essay? What do you like about your topic? What are you hoping to find out/learn through the research process? What do you think the strengths/weaknesses are so far? What are your confidences and concerns? What are your next steps? This essay by far seems to be the one I will ace, hopefully! I believe that the sources I have first off are very resourceful and I have one source for at least each of my three effects. I believe that being able to make it personal will also help me to write a strong paper, but able to also incorporate the statistics and factual information I need to include in the paper with my opinion and personal references. I wouldnt say there is a huge amount of information I am hoping to find out that I dont quite already know. I am maybe hoping to learn how to do a cause and effect smoothly! I have never had to write a cause and effect essay. Just research essays or a personal essay but nothing that makes me make sure it goes in order. I believe I have many strengths and minor weaknesses if not any. Maybe the weakness I have with this essay could be my thesis. I am not quite sure how I want my thesis to go, how to make it smooth and go into the essay. My next steps in the essay after finishing this proposal would be to begin a rough draft. An entire rough draft though, not just one paragraph or two.
(Remember, you dont have to answer all of these in full sentences; you can choose one or two to get in -depth with, or you can jot a few bullet points for each; your goal is a thoughtful, sincere reflection on your work so far, with a length of about 150-ish words.)
