By Celeste Wegner EDU-518-LUO

Abstract
Present gained knowledge over the past eight weeks Incorporate the gained knowledge into intended learning outcomes

Purpose
Determine how to prepare students to use technology to ensure success Assure student success in school and future careers

Teach students to use technology to assist them in all academic areas

Research Questions
How has technology been used in the educational system? Does the use of technology enhance learning in all subject areas? How can I implement technology in my classroom to assist other teachers in their subject areas?

Definitions of Key Terms

Technology refers to the use of various electronic and communication devices; i.e. IPads, I-Pods, Smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and other handheld devices (Bertram, 1999). Pass it forward Changing from giving a child a handheld device as entertainment to an educational tool (Loverly and Moberly, 2012).

Definitions of Key Terms (cont)

Digital assessment literacy- the abilities, perceptions, and skills required of the teacher in the digital environment with respect to assessment (Eyal, 2012). ICT Information and Communication Technology is referred to as the exploration of electronic devices used for learning (Law, Lee, & Chow, 2002).
6

Literature Review
Research was designed to determine the effects our changing world has on education. Learning outcomes and pedagogical practices were linked together and compared with previous outcomes. The results of this research determined that they must be linked together to provide the greatest effect (Law, Lee and Chow, 2002).

Eyal approached the role of the teacher in a digital environment. He focused on skills, abilities and perceptions required of the teacher with respect to assessment literacy. Lovely and Moberly identified the term pass it forward. This research reminded teachers that students should move from using technology to entertain and use technology as educational tools. Research Design
A qualitative case study design Students will be evaluated in all subject areas by comparing their academic performance after being taught technology skills as compared to their skills without technology

11

Sampling
Middle School and High School students Students will be assessed on their use of various technology equipment Teacher conferences will be held to complete the assessment

12

Data Collection
Meet with all teachers on a weekly basis to assess performance without technological skills Compare previous assessment with performance after technology is taught Areas to be assessed
Oral participation in class Daily work Test grades

Both etic and emic perspectives will be used

13

Data Analysis
Will utilize the interpretational analysis to determine if my research has provided the necessary information Information should reflect necessary results to determine if appropriate methods were used or if design needs to be changed

14

Data Analysis (cont)

Measurements will be of individual student performances with and without technology

15

Ethics and Human Relations

No comparisons will be made from different ethnic groups Groups to be assessed are: Native American, American, African American, Japanese and Chinese

16

Time Line
This research will extend over an entire school term Term to begin in August and conclude in May First assessment to begin without technology and technology to be implemented after one grading quarter
