Teacher: Veronica Longoria Subject: Language Arts Standard: Rhyming words TEKS for Technology Application: 126.6 (b)(1)(A) apply prior knowledge to develop new ideas, products, and processes. Objective (Explicit): Students will be able to identify words that rhyme using a SMART board matching memory lesson and provide academic feedback from instruction.
Evidence of Mastery (Measurable):

Date: 11/19/13 Grade: Kindergarten

Include a copy of the lesson assessment. Provide exemplar student responses with the level of detail you expect to see. Assign value to each portion of the response Sub-objectives: Learning to master recognition of rhyming words in a matching memory game.

Sub-objectives, SWBAT (Sequenced from basic to complex):

How will you review past learning and make connections to previous lessons? What skills and content are needed to ultimately master this lesson objective? How is this objective relevant to students, their lives, and/or the real world? Materials (Including Technology Tools): Learning to master looking at a picture, naming it, and then matching it with another picture that rhymes. Using matching memory game to match words that rhyme.
The Technology Tools Should Have:

Visuals that establish the purpose of the lesson, preview the organization of the lesson, and include internal summaries of the lesson. Examples, illustrations, analogies, and labels for new concepts and ideas. Logical sequencing and segmenting. All essential information and no irrelevant, confusing, or nonessential information. Incorporate multimedia and technology.

Activity: Rhyming words SMART board matching game Opening (state objectives, connect to previous learning, and make relevant to real life)

How will you activate student interest? How will you connect to past learning? How will you present the objective in an engaging and student-friendly way? How will you communicate its importance and make the content relevant to your students?

Encourage students participation and ask comprehension questions to activate student interest. Remind students to listen to the end sounds of the word in order to determine the match of that chosen word.

SubObjective

How will you model/explain/demonstrate all knowledge/skills required of the objective? How will you address misunderstandings or common student errors? How will you check for understanding? How will you explain and model behavioral expectations?

What will students be doing to actively capture and process the new material? How will students be engaged?

Provide students the opportunity to learn a new skill and way to learn different rhyming words utilizing the SMART board application. I plan to address misunderstandings or errors in a positive way where if a student does not understand they can allow a friend to help then I will go back to that student that did not understand to allow them to tell me the correct answer. Checking for understanding would be to have clear objectives. Explaining expectations entail voice level, understanding why they are learning the lesson and how they should answer (raising hand).

Students will be called to use the SMART board to turn over tiles and try to match that word with a word that rhymes. Students will tell me and share with their fellow peers what the picture is on the cards. Students will be engaged by being called on in an order and coming to the board for their turn to play the game. Asking questions and positive praise to keep students engaged.

The Technology Tools should:

Support the lesson objectives. Sustain students attention. Provide time for reflection. Are relevant to students lives. Induce student curiosity and suspense. Incorporate multimedia and technology. Incorporate resources beyond the school curriculum texts.

Closing/Student Reflection/Real-life connections:

How will students summarize and state the significance of what they learned? Why will students be engaged?

Did we have fun doing this lesson? Who can give me an example of what they learned? Students will be engaged by having the opportunity to share what they learned with their peers. Ask the students What do we listen for when we are listening for rhyming words? Students should answer with The end sound.
