January 8, 2013 I am interested in being an intern for Littleton Hospital.

My older sister, Lindsay Dixon, was a part of the professional internship program at Mountain Vista High School two years ago and had a positive experience volunteering in the NICU at Littleton Hospital. As a result, when the opportunity to be in the same internship program was presented to me, I wanted to participate right away. Since my sister enjoyed interning at Littleton, I would love to learn more about nutrition and dietetics by volunteering there as well. I have always had an interest in food and the human body, and that fascination escalated when I started running cross country my freshman year of high school. My coaches would often mention how important it was to eat nutritious meals, and I began to realize the effect food has on performance. Throughout high school, I have learned more about nutrition in classes like Creative Foods, Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Additionally, I have become more familiar with food preparation through preparing healthy dinners, snacks, and sack lunches for the children I babysit weekly. I have also had the opportunity to volunteer at various soup kitchens, giving me experience serving nutritious meals to large groups of people. I know these skills would help me be a successful intern at Littleton Hospital. I am interested in setting up an interview with you. Feel free to look at my resume (attached) to see more of my credentials. Please contact me by telephone or email. I look forward to meeting you in personthank you so much for your time. Sincerely, Kirsten Dixon
