Written Reflection KINES 466 Health Assessment Matt and I taught a health lesson on prescription drugs and preventing

teen abuse with a focus on analyzing influences. The students completed a bell ringer activity, stations, and then had to create and perform a Public Service Announcement (PSA) to the class that was 30 seconds long to 1 minute. The stations the students participated in were 6 videos about prescription drug abuse and many of them were PSAs so they had plenty of examples of different PSAs to recall. The group had questions they had to answer after watching each video clip on a station worksheet. There were 16 total questions and each was worth 1 point. We graded on completion and accuracy. We gave the students a checklist that they could look at as they were creating their PSA so they knew what they were being assessed on. We wanted them to focus on internal, external, positive, and negative influences. We also wanted the students to reflect knowledge of the prescription drug content and different ways they can be abused. All group members had to participate in the: 301:00 second/minute PSA presentation and they had to hand in their script after they presented their PSA. I believe we should have gone over each question briefly after each station so students could understand the content a bit better. Also, I think giving the students a easy to read rubric for their PSAs helped them know what we were going to grade them on and it helped us tell them what they missed or got correct. I would use both of these assessments again in a health lesson since it was easy to use and helpful to myself and the students.
