While the police has registered a case of suspicious death, the girl’s parents and relatives
refused to received her body till late Sunday evening demanding a judicial inquiry into
the incident.
Nagesh’s family members have claimed that they came to know about her suicide only
when they entered the toilet since she had not come out for a long time.
Subsequently, they peeped in through the glass window and found her hanging from a
ceiling fan, after which they had called in the police.
What has raised eyebrows is the fact that the DCP(Law and Order) Ramarajan himself
visited the spot after learning about the incident. Normally, the constables of the
jurisdictional police station alone visit a suicide spot.
The police rushed the girl’s body for post mortem even before Karpagavalli’s relatives
could arrive at the Government Rajaji Hospital.
Her father, Sundararajan, insists that there is foul play here. “Why were we informed
beyond noon, when they claim my daughter was found hanging at 9 am,” he asks.
Sundararajan and his relatives staged a demonstration at the hospital.
Karpagavalli’s mother Lakshmi claims that her daughter had refused to go back to
Nagesh’s house for work after her recent Pongal holiday. "Only because the hospital
compelled her, she went there. Now within six days we are seeing her body,” she wailed.
