Facilities Management Report - October, November and December 2007

Facilities Management has had the opportunity to work on several major projects
at the branches during the first quarter of fiscal year 2008. Projects are:

• Improved parking for the Benning Interim Library

• Added high density exterior lighting around the Benning modular unit
• Installed a Video Entry System at the Southeast Branch
• Renovated the staff lounge/kitchen area at the Southeast Branch
• Built a new storage room for Friends of the Southeast Branch
• Performed air sampling and mold remediation at the Southeast Branch
• Installed new suspended ceiling and energy lighting on the first and
second floor at the Francis A. Gregory Branch
• Installed new Heating and Cooling system for the meeting room at the
Francis A. Gregory Branch
• Added high density exterior lighting at the Francis A. Gregory Branch
• Installed new carpeting in the Children’s Reading Area of the Francis A.
Gregory Branch
• Installed new carpeting in the meeting room at the Capitol View Branch

Effective January 21, 2008, the entire custodial workforce will become the
responsibility of Facilities Management. Facilities will also welcome a new
Custodial Supervisor and Custodial Worker Leader who will be handling the day-
to-day supervision of the workforce both at MLKML and the branches.
