Action Plan Proposal What specific issue will you address? I will raise awareness of and help prevent bullying based on sexual orientation. This issue is important to me. My uncle passed away four years ago and he was gay. My uncle was a big man, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and HE was bullied based on his sexual choices. I have friends that are gay and I have seen them picked on as well. People do not realize the negative impact their words can have on another persons life. One cruel statement constitutes bullying and people are not aware of this. I want to make people aware of the damage and destruction their words can cause. We have a Day Of Silence once a year to remind us of this issue. I want people to wear a ribbon EVERYDAY to remind us of this issue. GOAL- I want to raise awareness of the issue of Bullying Based on Sexual Orientation.

What actions will you take to reach this goal? ACTION STEP 1- I will talk to my friends and classmates about this issue. I will keep a record of how many people are aware of the issue of bullying based on sexual preference. How will you measure the impact of this action step? I will check my notes and see the tally of how many people are aware of this issue. ACTION STEP 2- I will talk to adults in the school community to see if they would help support and fund a ribbon wearing campaign at the school. How will you measure the impact of this action step? I will have the support and help from parents to come in the morning and at lunch to help distribute the ribbons. If I cannot gather parent support I will then go to teachers and students for their support and help. ACTION STEP 3- I will talk to Mrs. Dadona about facilitating a Ribbon Wearing Campaign at the school. How will you measure the impact of this action step? Mrs. Dadona will either approve or deny my request. ACTION STEP 4- I will have the Ribbon Wearing Day in Support of No Bullying Based On Sexual Orientation. How will you measure the impact of this action step? I will see the impact based on the number of students that donate to the cause and wear the ribbon

What resources will you utilize to accomplish your goal? I will need to document my findings I will need ribbons and pins I will need parent support to help distribute the ribbons I will need school approval I will need to make posters prior to my event day I will need poster supplies I will need support from the Educators at school Etc..
