3 (a) (b)

Derive the RMS value of non-sinusoidal periodic current. A RL series network with R = 10 and L= 5H contains a current i(t) = 5 sin1000 t + 5 sin3000 t + 5 sin5000 t. Determine the effective applied voltage, rms current and average power. A pulse of voltage magnitude 5 volts and duration 1 second is applied to an initially relaxed series R-C circuit with R = 2 and C = 0.5F. (i) Calculate i(t) in the circuit using Laplace transform. (ii) Sketch approximate current waveform. (iii) Find the voltage across the capacitor. What are the necessary and sufficient conditions for positive realness of a given rational function? 4 3 2 Test the positive reality of the function H(s) = A(s)/B(s) where A(s) is given as s + 2s + 3s + s + 1 and 4 3 2 B(s) is given as s + s + 3s + 2s + 1. Develop the second Cauer form of reactive network for an L-C immittance function. 2 2 2 2 Synthesize the function (s + 1)(s + 3/[s (s + 2) (s + 4)]. Find the power spectral density if autocorrelation function is given as: - Rx()=e , for -<<. A band limited signal has power spectral density function: Sx(f) = 1 -fo f fo = 0 otherwise. Then find autocorrelation Rx(). State and prove the initial value theorem of z-transform Solve the difference equation using z-transform: x(n - 2) - 9 x(n - 1) + 18 x(n) = 0. The initial conditions are y(-1)=1, y(-2) = 9.
