Amine Treatment Raw gas from slug catcher enters amine coalescer, through which liquid is removed from

gas stream. Then it enters amine contactor in which gas enters from bottom and amine (Diethanol amine) is sprayed from top (absorption takes places at high pressure and low temperature in which CO2 from gas stream is absorbed by amine), Rich amine (amine that carryover CO2 with it, in liquid form started summing at the bottom), gas from top of amine contactor enters amine knockout drum (designed to act as a catch vessel for foam and liquid carryover, KO drum is a two phase separator with a mist mat and a vortex breaker), gas from KO drum moves towards de-hydration unit. Rich amine from amine contactor moves towards amine flash drum through level control valve, Amine flash drum (designed to remove large portion of absorbed gases in rich amine, it also removes liquid hydrocarbons carried out of the contactor through the rich amine, dissolved gases after separation sent to wet flare), rich amine now sent to plate type heat exchangers where its temperature is raised by heated lean amine from amine regenerator, rich amine (after temp is raised) send to amine regenerator from top (Amine regenerator-design to strip the CO2 rich acid gases from rich amine solution, stripping takes places at Low pressure and high temperature), rich amine is heated through counter flowing vapors which is heated in amine reboiler (in which rich amine enters in shell side while heating medium in tube side) and heat is exchanged, raising temperature of rich amine, which then enters amine regenerator from bottom, vapors (contains dissolved water and CO2) now raises to the top, while lean amine is extracted from bottom of amine regenerator, lean amine has high temp exchanges heat with rich amine(plate type HXs), then travels to booster pumps which increases its pressure and send it to amine fin fan coolers (these decreases lean amine temperature) then it travels to lean amine filter, carbon bed/ carbon guard filter (at this stage corrosion inhibitor is also injected if desired), then it travels to amine circulation pump as now amine is ready to enter amine contactor again. Vapor stream that is separated in amine regenerator from its top moves towards amine condenser in order to reduce its temperature, then it enters amine reflux drum where CO2 is vented and two phase mixture (water and amine) is condensed, that is re-injected in amine regenerator after passing through reflux pump.
