ABSTRACT Activity of urea fertilizer industry impact on environmental pollution with the disposal of wastewater into the waters.

The main content contained in PT. Pupuk Iskandar Muda wastewater are urea and ammonium. Urea and ammonium in this study were processed using conventional oxidation !"#"$ and Advanced #xidation Processes com%ination of !"#"&'e"()fenton$. 'rom the preliminary treatment results of using !"#" *+++ ppm o%tained p! * as the optimum p! with the highest decreasing of urea concentration from "*,,-./* ppm to 0".-"0/ ppm. The parameters used in this study were variation of the !"#" concentration 0+++- /+++*+++- ,+++ and 1+++ ppm$ and 'e"( concentration *++ ppm at various initial concentrations !"#". The result of this study indicated that the highest decreasing of urea concentration was o%tained %y using fenton reagent ! "#" 1+++ ppm and 'e"( *++ ppm$ with the initial urea concentration "*,,-./* ppm to + ppm urea. The decomposition reactions of urea to ammonium were represented %y the first order reaction kinetics and the reaction rate constant k.$ were +-+.2. The decomposition reaction of ammonium to nitrite also were represented %y the first order reaction kinetics and it3s reaction rate constant k"$ were +-+"". The results of this study indicate that fenton reagent can %e applied to the degradation of urea in the treatment of industrial wastewater urea. 4eywords5 Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP), Hydrogen Peroxide, Fenton, Fertilizer Industry Wastewater
