Rizals Second Travels Abroad: 1882-1892 After a brief stay in the Philippines, Rizal left to avoid the effect

of his book Noli Me Tangere. Rizal followed a transpacific route. He first went to Amoy, then to Hongkong, then to Yokohama, Japan where he stayed for six weeks at the Spanish Legation. During this time he met Usui Seiko (O-Sei-San). He crossed the Pacific aboard the liner Belgic and reached San Francisco. He crossed United States and Rizal noticed the racial disrcrimination prevalent there at the time. From New York, he sailed for Liverpool and then to London. It was during this time that he came in contact with the Filipinos of the Propaganda Movement Marcelo Hilario Del Pilar, Graciano Lopez Jaena, and many others. An organization was formed in December 1888, La Solidaridad. Its newspaper of the same name first appeared in February of 1889. From London, Rizal moved to Paris where Antonio de Morgas Sucesos de Las Islas Filipinas was published (1890) with Rizals annotations and Blumentritts preface.
