Students will be able to identify ten out of fourteen steps in which the government takes to create a new law. Students will be able to create a symbol that represents each step of the law making process.

Prior Knowledge Students have covered in their notes federalism and have also outlined the medical marijuana information in their handout.
Assessments: Assessment during the lesson: o Students will be answering questions and doing an activity in cooperative learning groups that can be found in their Medical Marijuana Handout Strategy and Learning Tasks Introduction: Review what the students had outlined on Friday
Presentation/Explicit Instruction: Students will watch a 60 minutes video clip about Medical Marijuana and how it ties to federalism.
Independent Practice Students will get into cooperative learning groups and complete the questions on the handout
Students with special needs/apathetic Baseline: Students can describe the issue. Average: Students can describe the issue and explain how the concept of federalism is evident in the issue.
