Morris calls for support from all parties in getting Sports capital funding for the all weather

pitch in the Nenagh College grounds It is essential for the future of sports tourism and indeed the viability of proper sports management for sports in North Tipperary that the application for sports capital funding is supported by all but in particular by the Government T D S who have the final say in the handing out of the Sports Capital funding by the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport which has just closed the application window. Tipperary E T B has applied for funding to finish the All Weather pitch on their property at their Nenagh College grounds. In fact this project is perfectly suited for funding as the Tipperary E T B have opened their grounds for a partnership approach with Nenagh Town Council which will see the All Weather Pitch joining the overall sports complex to be opened up for use of the wider community of North Tipperary. I have successfully encouraged Nenagh Town Council to give 50,000 euros towards the All Weather Pitch which is vital to maintain the towns ability to keep attracting sports tourism festivals to the town. It is also important to the proper management of all sports competitions as this pitch will be available in all weathers for use by many sports organisations in the County. The fact that the All Weather pitch is a spade ready project should also make it more likely to access funding as the project is finished . I have at all times promoted Nenagh as a sports tourism destination and I see a full All Weather Pitch as a huge asset to the town in attracting sports tourism events into the future. I am calling on all parties and none and indeed all sports clubs and organisations to lobby our Government T Ds to see this important project over the line. The project is of course also very important for the Nenagh College as it will add to its already impressive sporting facilities. Yours sincerely Cllr. Samie Morris 09/03/14
