Racist Violence Recording Network

Call for assistance the people on the street or other

witnesses
Contact the police (go to the nearest police station, or dial
100 or call the Greek Police hotline for reporting incidents
of racist violence at 11414) and ask for them to record
your testimony or your complaint. If you do not hold legal
residence documents you may be detained. You can
first contact organisations listed below in order to get
information about your rights
Go to the hospital in order to get a medical certificate and
any other document proving that the attack took place
and the injuries you sustained
Note the contact details of the witnesses for any
future use
Approach the Networks organisations to report the
incident and request assistance
If you want to file a complaint, you must talk to a lawyer in
order to see if filing a complaint is possible considering the
data and the witnesses available. You can find lawyers that
provide free assistance to victims of racist violence, including
migrants and refugees with or without legal residence in the
country, at the organisations participating in the Network.
In addition to filing a complaint, you can always contact the
following organisations in order to report, anonymously,
what happened to you, get information on your rights and receive support:

With the victims help, the above organisations record cases

of violence with a racist motive on a Racist Incident Recording Form. In order to protect the victim, no personal details
are recorded and confidentiality is strictly applied.
The recording will help the members of the Racist Violence
Recording Network to put pressure on the authorities in order
to combat the phenomenon of racist violence and to increase
public awareness on this issue.
If the incident involved in any way policemen, civil servants
or other public officials, you can request assistance at the
Greek Ombudsmans Office. The Ombudsman will help you
in investigating and drafting your complaint and will seek disciplinary actions against them. For more information you can
call 213 1306 600.
ENGLISH

The Racist Violence Recording Network is an initiative of

the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and of
the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office
in Greece (UNHCR). It is an umbrella network and its members are Non-Governmental Organisations as well as other
entities offering legal, medical, social or any other support
services that come into contact with victims of racist attacks.
Goals of the Recording:
The organisations participating in the Network cannot guarantee finding justice in any given incident. Nevertheless, recording cases of racist violence is of outmost importance in
order to:
combat racist violence
draft proposals to be addressed to the government
increase public awareness on the phenomenon of racist
violence

Demander lassistance des passants ou dautres tmoins

Vous adresser la police (au commissariat le plus
proche, en appelant le 100 ou en appelant le numro
spcial de la Police au 11414) et demander quon dresse
un procs-verbal signalant les faits dont vous avez
t victime ou quon reoit votre plainte. Vous devez
tenir en compte que si vous tes un immigr sans
permis de sjour, il est possible que vous soyez mis en
dtention. Vous pouvez dabord communiquer avec les
organisations suivantes afin de vous informer sur vos
droits
Vous adresser un hpital afin de faire constater par
crit les faits dont vous avez t victime ainsi que vos
ventuelles blessures,
Noter par crit les coordonnes des tmoins de lattaque
pour une ventuelle utilisation future
Contacter les organisations membres du Rseau afin
denregistrer lincident
Si vous dsirez dposer une plainte, vous devez vous adresser un avocat afin de voir si une telle plainte est possible au
vu des preuves et des tmoins qui existent. Aux organisations du Rseau, il existe des avocats qui travaillent gratuitement au service des rfugis immigrs et des trangers avec
ou sans papiers qui ont t victime dune agression raciste.
Vous pouvez aussi, indpendamment de toute plainte, vous
adresser aux organisations ci-dessous pour rapporter de
faon anonyme lattaque dont vous avez t victime, pour
vous informer sur vos droits et pour recevoir du soutien:

Les organisations ci-dessus rapportent par crit, avec laide

de la victime, les attaques motivation raciste sur un Formulaire Descriptif. Afin de protger la victime, aucune donne
personnelle nest rapporte et le principe de confidentialit
est respect. Ce rapport va aider les organisations membres du Rseau dEnregistrement des Incidents de Violence
Raciste de faire pression sur le gouvernement dans le but de
vaincre le phnomne de violence motivation raciste et de
sensibiliser lopinion publique.
En conclusion, si lincident a impliqu, de quelque manire
que ce soit, des policiers ou autres fonctionnaires, vous pouvez vous adresser au Mdiateur de la Rpublique hellnique.
Celui-ci rdigera et examinera votre plainte et recherchera
leur responsabilit disciplinaire. Pour plus dinformations,
