What is computer virus?


A program or a piece of code that can infect the computer system and files stored init is called computer virus.

Problems Created by Viruses:


Destroy all data stored in the hard disk . Boot sector of a disk is affected. It slows down the data accessing speed of the computer. A virus may make resources unavailable to the users.

The virus can also infect our computer by using pirated software.

TYPES OF COMPUTER VIRUSES

BOOT SECTOR VIRUS:

The boot sector virus is also known as system virus. It modifies the program in the boot sector.

CHERNOBAL VIRUS:

The chernobal virus is a computer virus with a potentially devastating payload that destroys all computer data when an infected file is executed

RESIDENT AND NONRESIDENT VIRUSES:


Resident viruses overwrite interrupt handling code or other functions In contrast, a non-memory-resident virus (or "non-resident virus"), when executed, scans the disk for targets

LOGIC BOMB:

A logic bomb is a piece of code intentionally inserted into a software system that will set off a malicious function when specified conditions are met
