Gi1en *here *e are today 2r8s Tho'son) Wa" er and Magee agreed *ith regret that the best *ay 5or*ard) to 4ro1ide the best 4ossib"e ser1ice 5or the 11000 4atients the 4ractice ser1es bet*een >ar'outh and Fresh*ater) *as to te'4orari"y c"ose the >ar'outh surgery and ser1ice the needs o5 the 1800 4atients that use >ar'outh *ithin the Broo side Fresh*ater 5aci"ity. &etaining >ar'outh *ith one doctor *ou"d 4"ace an i'4ossib"e burden o5 *or on the t*o re'aining doctors at Broo side ser1ing ?000 4atients. #"osing date 5or >ar'outh *ou"d be 28 th March 2014. 2r Tho'son con5ir'ed the >ar'outh Phar'acy *ou"d re'ain o4en and re7uests 5or 4rescri4tions cou"d be 5a98d or e"ectronica""y sent. 2r Tho'son a"so 1isited the F>T bus ser1ice to ensure a regu"ar ser1ice bet*een >ar'outh and Broo side *ou"d be 'aintained. 0te1e #o*"ey :Mayor o5 >ar'outh; said he had heard ru'ours that this shortage o5 GP8s *as 4ri'ari"y a 5unding issue. 2r8s Tho'son and Wa" er re5uted this and said they *ere ha44y to 4"ace on record that 5unding *as not an issue and that i5 4 GP8s cou"d be 5ound to'orro* 5unding *as a1ai"ab"e and this current 4rob"e' *ou"d disa44ear o1ernight. 2r Tho'son con5ir'ed a 5e'a"e doctor *ou"d be <oining the 4ractice short"y and there *ere other "eads current"y being 4ursued *hich cou"d bring a 4ositi1e outco'e but it *as too ear"y to 'a e any 5urther co''ent at this ti'e. 0te1e #o*"ey said he had no* a better understanding o5 the current situation and be"ie1ed the >ar'outh 4atients *ou"d bene5it 5ro' ha1ing 2r Tho'son attend 'eetings in >ar'outh to e94"ain his 4osition. The doctors cou"d not co''it to attending 5urther 'eetings. 3"" 6 re'aining doctors *ere co''itted to being 4art o5 the 5uture o5 the West Wight Practice in *hate1er 5or' that 'ight be. 2r Tho'son and 2r Wa" er con5ir'ed that N!0 %ng"and) *ho *ere the body res4onsib"e 5or contracting the ser1ices at West Wight *ere in the 4rocess o5 4re4aring a 4rocure'ent s4ec *hich *ou"d go out 5or tender to 1arious organisations ca4ab"e o5 su44"ying the ser1ices 5or the West Wight Practice. The doctors be"ie1ed the ti'esca"e 5or 4re4aring the 4rocure'ent s4ec *as about @ *ee s. =n the 'eanti'e they *ou"d) together *ith N!0 %ng"and and the "oca" #"inica" #o''issioning Grou4) continue to do their out'ost in 5inding suitab"e GP8s *i""ing to <oin the 4ractice *hi"st *or ing *ith the rest o5 the 'edica" tea' at West Wight ser1ing the needs o5 the 11000 4atients. Me'bers o5 the 4atients grou4 "istened to *hat the doctors had to say. Whi"st concerned regarding the uncertain 5uture) the grou4 understood the issues that West Wight Medica" Practice 5aced. The 4atients grou4 'e'bers sought con5ir'ation regarding ho* 4atients cou"d he"4 the re'aining GP8s o1er the co'ing *ee s.
