Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. reports the arrests of two individuals on gun and drug possession charges. On April 2, 2014, Albany County Sheriffs Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Guilderland for Vehicle and Traffic law violations. While interviewing the operator, Walt M. Daminger (28) of 553 Higley Hill Road, Wilmington, VT, deputies learned that his drivers license had been suspended. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Valentina M. Centra (31) of 37 Ontario Street, Albany, NY. Following Mr. Damingers arrest, deputies located a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a small quantity of Marihuana and Hashish inside the vehicle. Both subjects were placed into custody and transported to the Albany County Sheriffs Office Public Safety Building. Walt M. Daminger was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a vehicle in the 3rd degree, a Misdemeanor. Valentina M. Centra was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D Felony and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation. Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Guilderland Court by the Honorable Judge Richard Sherwood. Both individuals were remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail. Bail was set in the amount of $30,000 for Walt M. Daminger and $25,000 for Valentina M. Centra. Both subjects are scheduled to return back to Guilderland Court on April 3, 2014 at 5:00PM for a preliminary hearing.
