Earths Moon
Our moon is almost 239,000 miles away from Earth. It is covered in mountains, valleys, craters and old volcanoes. The moon is more than just something pretty to look at. It regulates the ocean tides on Earth. It also helps keep the Earth from wobbling on its axis, and keeps the tilt steady. Scientists have been studying the moon for centuries. In 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to land on the moon. He and other astronauts brought back samples to study. Since then we have sent over 70 spacecraft to the moon, and twelve astronauts have walked on it.
1. How far is the moon from Earth?
3. When did the first man walk on the moon? 4. Why is the moon important to life on Earth?
