The greatest insight I discovered about students at the junior level has to do with their social growth. I feel like this is a very delicate time for a lot of kids in regards to fitting in with their peers. While I knew that peer pressure and social expectations were prevalent during the junior years, I didnt realize it was at such a high level. When I was in the junior grades I dont recall caring much about fitting in until grade 6 when I moved to a middle school. I wonder if it has gotten worse over time or if Im just not remembering clearly. Either way Im glad to be more aware because it is important to understand what students are going through and doing whatever you can to help them through it. Overall, there were many new and helpful things that I discovered about this age group. Every time I read something it seemed to just make sense, especially after thinking about the kids I know who are in this stage of life right now.
