Module 1 is all about introducing the alphabet to your child. There is no need for the child to memorize
the alphabet at this time, there will plenty of practice in the next Module.
Concepts
Reading: Learn the alphabet song
Recognize some letters
Distinguish between upper and lower case

Writing: Focus on starting points and direction over neatness.

Introduce the child to writing their name. (You can use a dictation sheet for this)
Materials
Two alphabet mats are included in this lesson. -One for reading, one for tracing.

Timing Possibilities
1. Take a year introducing one letter a week.
2. Take a month and introduce one line at a time
3. Use off and on until the child is ready for formal lessons

Suggestions:
Print two copies of the reading mats(upper and lowercase). Leave one alone and cut the other up.
Match up cut out letters to alphamats, First upper case -uppercase and then mixed cases
Play find the 'O' (or other letter) in a pile of face up letters
Make rainbow writing mats by tracing in red one day and tracing over the same letters in orange,
yellow, green... on successive days.
