i have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Kyle Sprague in coaching the Grand Ledge High School Archery Team for the 20L3-2014 school year. Many qualities in this teaching candidate stand out. The first quality that really stands out with Kyle is in his attitude of volunteerism. At the beginning of the school year, he heard that we had an archery team and immediately came to me to help out in any way that he could. He also enllsted the help of his wife, Megan, to help as well. They both went through a Saturday B hour traintng on their own time and without pay, to become certified archery coaches under the National Archery in the Schools Program INASP). Since this is only our second year of having an archery program, the coaches volunteer their time without compensation. As all of you know, student teaching is hard enough wrthout the added responsibility of coaching a sport on top of it. Kyle has not only done that, but has done it very well. Because of Kyle's attitude and work ethic, we have not had to close a single practice this year for the kids. They are a very diverse bunch of kids with some having no other positive connection to the school but through the sport of archery and look forward to it every week, especially with Coach Sprague. SomeoftheB5kidsthatparticipateinthehighschoolprogramhavearangeofdisabilities,from physical issues such as cerebral palsy, to students with autism. He coaches them all with a great deal of patience not usually found in such a young teacher. Coach Sprague has been there for those kids and many more while coaching as well as given them a great role model in the hallways and classrooms to look up to.
In considering this great candidate, you really must look at many things. First, Kyle has the intelligence and work ethic to excel at any teaching assignment that is given. Secondly, he will be a part of your staff that will go "above and beyond" as he shown in this year of student teaching and coaching the archery team. Thirdly, he will walk into school everyday with an attitude ol "What can I do to help the team?" The only regret that I have in writing this letter of recommendation is that there simply is not enough room on a page or two to tell you the great many qualities and experiences that I have seen in this teacher.
