CHAPTER 3 MARKET SURVEY INTERPRETATIONS


3.1 MARKET SURVEY
To understand the customer needs, their mind set and their awareness about the hybrid vehicle a market survey was conducted. A questionnaire was prepared and a survey was taken among the LGV drivers. The survey covered a sample size of 80 with 20 sample from each makers. Four LGVs are taken into considerations, they are TATA Ace, Ashok Leyland Dosth, Piaggio Ape, Mahindra Maximo. The questionnaire was prepared in such a way that we can know the technical specifications that we need to satisfy a customer. The survey is conducted in the south and south east parts of Coimbatore. The details of the survey are given in Appendix A.

3.2 OBSERVATIONS FROM THE SURVEY


Since its introduction into the market in 2001 TATA Ace has been a LGV of choice for many customers and TATA had rolled out its 1 million vehicle recently, so hybridising it will be more useful for the market and moreover TATA is trying CNG versions and Bifuel versions in Ace which has a good response from the customers. Hence developing a hybrid power train will also as a positive impact. Based on the survey the targets that a hybrid ace should achieve are found and are as follows
