Adverb endings

Most French adverbs end in -ment, like -ly in English, eg gnralement.

To form an adverb, you need to add -ment to the feminine singular form of the adjective.
For example the masculine singular of heureux --> feminine singular heureuse and adds -
ment --> heureusement.
But when the masculine singular adjective ends in a vowel, just add -ment to it:
joli --> joliment
libre --> librement
When the masculine adjective ends in -ent or -ant remove the -ent or -ant and add -
emment:
rcent --> rcemment
-amment, suffisant --> suffisamment
Adverbs before the adjective
Adverbs like trs (very), assez (quite), trop (too) usually go before the adjective:
Elle est trs belle (She's very beautiful)
Ils sont assez beaux (They're quite handsome)
Son manteau est trop grand (His coat is too big)
Adverbs after the verb
Adverbs
like toujours (always), souvent (often), jamais (never), quelquefois(sometimes), vite (quickl
y), bien (well), mal (badly), beaucoup (a lot), tard (late) go after the verb:
Elle arrive toujours en retard (She's always late)
Nous travaillons beaucoup (We work a lot)
