Course Objectives & Outcomes DIGITAL IC APPLICATIONS
Prerequisites 1. Basic digital electronics concepts 2. Electronic circuit analysis, with emphasis on transient analysis 3. Basic semiconductor theory, pn junction, MOSFET, and BJT fundamentals 4. Knowledge in Switching Theory and Logic Design 5. Basic Knowledge in HDL languages.
Course Objectives: 1. To study basic semiconductor principles and digital IC technology. 2. To investigate the static and dynamic characteristics of popular MOS and bipolar logic families, with emphasis on CMOS and TTL technologies. 3. To have Knowledge of CMOS and TTL gates in designing logic Circuits. 4. To Study and Analyze combinational and Sequential Logic Circuits. 5. To study the design of common logic circuits, such as combinational circuits, regenerative circuits, Programmable Logic Devices and various types of memories 6. To measure and verify the performance of digital circuits in the laboratory. 7. To perform the HDL simulation of simple digital circuits.
Course Outcomes: 1. On completion of this course, the students will have a thorough understanding of TTL, CMOS Circuits and their utilization in Digital integrated circuits. 2. Also students will be able to design circuits of combinational and sequential circuits for various applications. 3. Students will be able to use the methods of systematic reduction of Boolean algebra expressions including Karnaugh maps. 4. Students will understand the basic electronics of logic circuits and be able to use integrated circuit packages. 5. Students will be able to model, analyze, and test a digital circuit using a computer software application(HDL).
