Dear Human Resources Manager:
I am applying for the Pension and Health Care Analyst full time temporary summer internship that I found out about through Jim McPhillips at the Pennsylvania State University actuarial science job fair during October of 2013. The Pension and Health Care Analyst position is appealing to me because it relates to my class work in risk management and statistics. I also have prior work experience in data processing from my previous internship this past summer with Benetrends. The culmination of these skills qualifies me for the position.
At The Pennsylvania State University, I have studied risk management and pension programs, where I have gained knowledge of defined benefit and defined contribution plans, along with how to complete calculations of various health care packages. I have also mastered the fundamentals of data analysis through my statistics and algebra classes. Finally, I have also taken a technical writing class that has taught me how communicate effectively within the sciences. These classes will aid me when processing and preparing reports for clients of the Hay Group
Out of the classroom, I already have experience in data processing, an integral component of the Hay Group internship. My previous internship with Benetrends provided me with experience in creating Form 5500s, reconciliations, and Excel pivot tables. The internship program also gave me office experience and team building skills which are important tools that the Hay Group values. I am also part of the transition orientation leader program at The Pennsylvania State University. This has given me leadership skills necessary to succeed in any work environment.
