A Web Quest for 4th Grade (Math)
Designed by

In this web quest, students will practice estimating and measuring the degrees of different
angles, as well as learn to identify and classify types of angles and triangles.

Introduction
Hello 4th graders! Today we will be exploring one of my favorite
topics- geometry! In this web quest, your mission will be to identify
and classify different types of angles and triangles. Using these skills,
you will be able create a picture which includes all of the types of
angles and triangles you have learned about! Get ready to have fun,
and good luck!

This web quest meets Common Core Mathematics Standard CC.4.G.2:
Draw and identify lines and angles, and classify shapes by properties
of their lines and angles. Classify two-dimensional figures based on the
presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence
or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a
category, and identify right triangles.
The Task
Are you ready to get creative and play some geometry games? I know
I am! Your missions in these games are not only designed to be fun
and teach us about types of angles and triangles, but they also will
help us make the final product - our mathematical masterpiece! By the
end of this web quest, you will be able identify and classify types of
angles and triangles. You will then use these skills and knowledge to
create a picture of whatever you want using whatever materials you
can find. Get your favorite art supplies ready! Just remember to have
fun and make sure to include at least one of every type of angle and
triangle in your work of art!
The Process
Step1: Getting to know the terms
Use math dictionary site to define each word, found on your pocket
that you get at the being of this mission.
Step2: Fun with Angels
It's time to play some geometry games! In this step, we are going to
have fun exploring angles. You can find all of the links to the games at
the bottom of this page. Don't forget to add any characteristics you
learn about these angles on your worksheet from the first step!

The first game you are going to play is called the Fact Monster
Baseball Game. Use your best angle estimations to win the game!
Don't forget to listen to the instructions the players will give you about
how to use a protractor to measure angles. This will be useful for you
when you complete your mathematical masterpiece! Have Fun!

The next game you will play in this step will test your ability to
estimate the degrees of angles and feed a hungry monkey. The more
skill you have, the more bananas you can find for the monkey! Step3:
Fun with Triangles & Creating the Mathematical Masterpiece

In step two we played games to learn more about angles. In this, we
will focus on identifying and classifying triangles. Get your worksheet
out so you can do a quick review of your triangle terms and add any
new information you may learn along the way!

It's finally here! In this step we will get to create our mathematical
masterpiece, using the knowledge and skills we have learned upon the
way.

This is a fourth grade web quest about geometry.

Teacher Introduction
This is geometry mission where student will learn the about angels and
also triangles. They will have to go to their computer, tables, phones
and other electronics to go learn and play games that are about angels
and triangles.
Learners
The learners for this web quest are intelligent fourth graders who
understand the basics of geometry and the skill to go on the internet
and search and geometry. This web quest includes fourth grade
common core standards or mathematics.

Standards
4. MD.5.
Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share
a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement.
4. MD.6.
Measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor. Sketch angles of
specified measure.

Teacher Process

Allow the students some time in class to go online and look for games
that involve geometry. Also work on their worksheets and to ask the
teacher any questions if they have any. Check their process every
once in a while and make sure to keep up with their work if needed.
