RE: Job ID 645779, Student Internship

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing in response to your internship listing on the sandia.gov jobs website. I would like to
be considered for the Student Intern - Performance Assurance Support Technical Undergrad Yr
Rnd Job. I believe that my strong academic record as well as my desire to learn makes me a
qualified candidate for this internship.

I am currently enrolled in classes at both the University of New Mexico and Central New
Mexico Community College. I am concentrating on a Bachelors degree in both electrical
engineering and physics, and I have a strong academic record in both math and physics. My
current course load includes Calculus III, Physics II, Computer Logic and Design (VHDL
programming), Technical Writing, and Chemistry I. My current GPA is 3.73/4.0 and I am very
dedicated to my studies. I maintain this high GPA while also working 35-40 hours per week.

My desire to learn makes me a unique candidate. From making the perfect chicken stew at my
current job to understanding magnetism in my Physics class, I put in the time and devotion to
learn and understand the task or concept at hand. While I am dedicated to learning in any
environment, my true desire is to expand my knowledge in math and physics in order to apply
that knowledge to electromagnetics and optics.

I have included my resume for you to take a further look at my education and experience. I
would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my application. Please feel free to
contact me at (505) 559-0646 or fsalas10@unm.edu.

Thank you,

Francis Salas
