It is my pleasure to recommend Ms. Tynia Lewis for a teaching position in your district.
Ms. Lewis has been my student mentee during Spring 2014 semester when she completed
her student teaching at Elizabeth High School- Upper Academy in Elizabeth, NJ. I have
come to know Ms. Lewis quite well through our interactions as well as the observations I
conducted in her classroom.

Ms. Lewis has been a pleasure to have as a mentee. As her education mentor I was
impressed with her energy, passion for teaching, and dedication to her students. Ms. Lewis
demonstrated a strong desire to learn and continuously improve her teaching. She pursued
and incorporated feedback and as a result, I saw great progress throughout the semester. I
am confident Ms. Lewis will continue to strive to be the best teacher she can be. She
demonstrates strength in areas a successful teacher needs, such as lesson development and
delivery, progress monitoring, and classroom management.

Ms. Lewis writes detailed lesson plans that incorporate all the necessary components to
support her in delivering a thorough lesson. Her lessons are fun and engaging as she
incorporates student interests in the content she delivers and provides multiple
opportunities to respond. She is the kind of teacher who brings her personality in the
classroom and designs original and relevant lessons. Her lesson delivery is appropriate, her
pace engaging, and the scaffolds she provides students are well designed. Ms. Lewis has a
strong belief all students can learn and strives to reach all students by responding to their
diverse needs. She is well aware of the importance of assessing her students` progress and
she utilizes formative assessments on a daily basis to inform her teaching. She understands
the importance of creating organized and supportive classroom environments. As a results
she establishes clear expectations and routines for her students and consistently reinforces
students for following her expectations.

Having a mature personality, good educational background, and a desire to be the best
teacher she can be, I believe that Ms. Lewis will have a promising future as an educator. I
am convinced she will be a great asset to your district and make meaningful contributions.
