RE: Service Learning Proposal to Build Awareness about the Christian Center of Park
City


Overview
I propose to create a pamphlet to build awareness in the Park City and Salt Lake City
communities about the various programs and services proposed by the Christian Center of Park
City - CCPC. Those include the food pantry, Back to School Basics, Hike for Hunger,
Operation Hope and some others that are centered in help the community by giving to the ones
in need of a little bit of our time.

We will conduct our research through online resources and personal interviews with the CCPC
staff. We will gather our research into a pamphlet to distribute at SLCC, local grocery stores and
around the Park City and in Salt Lake City area.

This project will be beneficial to us and to the community because it will:

increase awareness about the day-by-day difficulties our community face.
provide support to the families in need.
create volunteer opportunities and well-being.
develop an understanding about how important is to help others.

Rationale/Benefits to BUS 2200 students and the Target Audience
Creating this pamphlet will benefit BUS 2200 students as well as the community in a whole. It
will benefit the students because it will create the opportunity to:

research, write, speak, listen and think critically which will develop our communications
skills.
create and design a business document that catch the readers attention.
develop contacts with local organizations, building a future network.
provide with information and service the community needs.
We have learned in this class a lot of tools that we can use to help others in a direct and simple
way, like a creative and effective pamphlet. This project would give us the opportunity to
practice and apply the methods and writing skills we have learned in a genuine and real form.
Plan/Time Frame
Methodologies. To provide the pamphlet for the community, we will need to plan our approach
by creating interview questions, conducting those interviews with the CCPC managers, and
compile research useful information and data to present in a pamphlet format.
Time Frame
Week 1 Organize personnel and delegate tasks.
Weeks 2-3 Research information, conduct interviews and gather data.
Weeks 4-5 Finish our research, compile the data in a pamphlet format and start the
group report.
Weeks 6-7 Finish our pamphlet and present it to the class. Present the final group
report.

Personnel
I will need at least three people to put this project together. The group will probably be split
based on our individual skills and it is important that the members have a passion about helping
people and actually put their hearts in this project.
As a group we should be able to collaborate and gather our data within the given class time. The
out-of-class time work will be interviewing the entity staff. We would probably use google drive
and email or text message to communicate and get the project done.
