ABSTRACT

Newspaper is a publication that appears frequently and regularly. It carries news about a wide
variety of current events as well as advertisements. The newspaper publishers have an overall
control of news operations as well as other related business. Newspapers play an important role
in our day-to-day life. They have contributed not only for the development of the economy but
also for the growth of democracy in our country. Indian newspapers usually enjoy large
circulations.
The Hindu is an English-language Indian daily newspaper. Having its headquarters in
Chennai, The Hindu was published weekly when first it was launched in 1878, but then started
publishing daily in 1889. According to the Indian Readership Survey in 2012, it was the third
most widely-read English newspaper in India (after the Times of India and Hindustan Times),
with a readers base of 2.2 million people. The Hindu has its largest base of circulation in south
India, and is the most widely-read English daily newspaper in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Subscription and advertisement are its major sources of income. In 1995, it was the first Indian
newspaper to offer an online edition.
This study is done to help analyze the post-purchase behavior of a consumer towards The Hindu
and to understand the existing consumer preference towards The Hindu Newspaper as well as its
supplements
