THINGS A PERSONAL STATEMENT SHOULD CONTAIN!!!

A personal statement must be written as a clear concise thought, no zigzags between

sentences, and statements
A good statement should begin with why you have chosen your particular field of study,
and what were the major factors that have contributed to your interest in it, examples
might be close family such as your parents or older siblings, or even 2
nd
degree family
such as aunts and uncles. In the first passage you should also mention what your
ultimate goal is in life, for example for business students usually the main goal is to
establish their own business.
Next you should move on to your academic background, favourite subjects at school,
and the abilities and skills that they have helped you develop, for example if you state
that mathematics is one of your favourite subjects, you could mention that it has helped
you develop critical and analytical thinking skills as well as problem solving, and logic
reasoning, and so on.
Also in this part you must include extracurricular activities such as membership, or
position of authority in the school body, such as the senate or other such clubs, and
what have they contributed to your development, for example leadership skills, people
management and others.
It would also be good to include volunteer work, or perhaps relevant part-time work
experience at your parents workplaces.
Next you should move on to personal hobbies and interests, that are relevant to your
chosen field, sports for example football, usually lead to a development in teamwork
and maybe leadership skills. Swimming improves tenacity and perseverance, and a will
to win, and other such examples.
Lastly is the conclusion, which is a sum-up of everything that you have stated, and your
belief that after graduating from your university you will be closer to reaching your goals
OR how your chosen course will help you reach your goals?
