A group engagement game Beach Ball Ice Breaker

To objectives of this game are: 1.) To cultivate social interaction through communication and
team building; 2.) To learn the importance of good communication skills, following directions
and 3.) To foster values such as trust, camaraderie and effective communication skills.

Materials: 1 inflatable beach ball
Place : Indoor activity Room

Directions:
1.) The participants are put into a group circle.
2.) One of the student leaders will discuss house rules
3.) As the members are in a circle, the student leader will remain in the center with the ball.
4.) On the ball there are questions written on each panel.
5.) The student will toss the ball to a member.
6.) Who ever catches the ball must wait for directions.
7.) The student will call out a specific finger on a certain hand, left or right.
8.) The member may opt out, but are asked to kindly answer the question out loud to the
group to the responding question on the ball.
9.) After the members has answered the question, the member will then toss the ball to
another person and call out a finger and then that new person will then answer the
question, etc.

Discussion Questions: Pre-game
1.) What is communication? How do we communicate?
2.) Is there a good and bad communication skills?
3.) What is the importance of effective communication?

Discussion Questions: Processing Ideas Post Game
1.) What do you think of the game? ~ any comments, opinions, etc.
2.) What communication strategies work best? Any barriers encountered?
3.) What is the difference between going alone and being guided?
4.) What more could have been done to improve your team?
