To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Kristi Guinn. Kristi was our librarian for the
majority of the 13-14 school year and her work with our staff and students was exemplary. Kristi began the year
with some challenges laid out before her. First, she was following a person had been in the position for over a dec-
ade. Second, the staff wanted immediate changes in the operation of the library to a more user friendly orienta-
tion. And third, she was offered the position less than a week before school began. Kristi handled each of these
challenges with the utmost professionalism.
Kristi was able to prioritize what her learning needed to be in order to affect the changes she wanted to
make in our library. Kristi learned her job duties and then listened to the staff and students to gauge what chang-
es she could implement that would give the library the biggest return. It was apparent from the start that Kristi
was up to the task. While most in her position would have waited until the summer to change the library from an
Accelerated Reader check out system to a more traditional Dewey system, Kristi took this on and accomplished it
over a small break in our school calendar. This has been enormously beneficial to our students and staff who uti-
lize the library in selecting books and completing research. During this process, Kristi was able to cull 1,500
books that had not been out of the library for more than ten (10) years and she immediately began to replace
these books with books that students were more interested in reading.
In addition to her librarian duties, Kristi was also expected to do a number of other tasks, such as recess
and bus duties, run the book fair and serve on various committees. Kristi always went in to these roles with the
best interests of the students in mind. She would make suggestions when she had ideas on how things improved
and was always willing to take advice from others and listen to their points of view.
We were very sorry to see Kristi leave, but we understood the reasons behind it and could not fault her
for the decision that she made. I would whole heartedly recommend Kristi for any position she may apply for
with your institution.
Sincerely,

Todd Burns
