Should we as followers of Srila Prabhupada also study the books of the previous

acharyas?
yes definitely. they are our acaryas. its our responsibility to dive deep into t
he Gaudiya Vaishnava legacy by studying works of SP and previous acaryas.
Cultural context of today is different from the context in which the previous ac
aryas wrote their books. Jumping into works of previous acaryas without building
our philosophical fundamentals will lead to our premature imagining of ourselve
s as advanced devotees but in reality we have not internalised even the philosop
hical fundamentals of spirituality. So he SP consistently hammers the fundamenta
ls in his books. SP came to connect us with the GV sampradaya. He didnt come to
start a personality cult. Yes SP's books are enough to take us back to Godhead.
But he did not come to freeze the GV sampradaya to himself. Serious students sho
uld study the works of previous acaryas even Vaishnav acaryas who are not Gaudiy
a Vaishnavas. Scriptures are vast and no one acarya's commentary can give exhaus
tive understanding of scriptures.
